The Executive Director of Voice of Nature (VoNat), Ndimuh Bertrand Shancho , recently participated in a 6-day Amphibian Bioacoustics Workshop and African Amphibian Conservation Community Meeting in Ballito, South Africa. The workshop, organized by Anura Africa from March 23–29, 2026, brought together over 50 researchers, conservation practitioners, and technology specialists from across Africa, providing a dynamic platform for learning, innovation, and collaboration.

Through a combination of expert presentations and hands-on sessions, participants explored how acoustic technologies can be used to detect, monitor, and better understand amphibian species and their populations across diverse landscapes.

The workshop culminated in an African Amphibian Conservation Community session, where participants strengthened partnerships and explored strategies to build a more coordinated conservation network across the continent. Discussions emphasized the importance of collaboration, shared learning, and collective action in addressing the growing threats facing amphibians.

Mr. Ndimuh described the workshop as both timely and transformative.  “It has truly been an epic experience, coming at a time when VoNat is scaling up its efforts to address threats to Goliath frog conservation within the Nlonako–Muanengouba landscape, and expanding its amphibian monitoring and conservation actions to the Mount Cameroon and Mount Mbam landscapes of the South West and North West regions of Cameroon. I am deeply grateful to Anura Africa and all her partners for organizing such timely and impactful workshop sessions. It is a win for the frogs.”

Participation in this workshop will undoubtedly strengthen VoNat’s amphibian conservation efforts in Cameroon. As the organization continues to scale its impact, engagement in such international platforms reinforces its commitment to science-driven and community-led conservation solutions, ensuring a stronger future for amphibians and the ecosystems they depend on.
