ABOUT US
Voice of Nature (VoNat) is a community-based non-profit organization founded in 2019 and officially registered, dedicated to conserving amphibians, primates, and ecosystems while building climate resilience in Cameroon. Based in Buea, VoNat is an official partner of the Cameroon Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife (MINFOF) and works closely with local communities to deliver practical, locally led conservation solutions. Our work focuses on conserving amphibians, primates, and other threatened species while restoring forests, wetlands, soil health, and watersheds across Key Biodiversity Areas in Cameroon. Through a combination of research, environmental education, storytelling, community outreach, and hands-on conservation action, we promote ecosystem restoration and climate resilience while supporting sustainable livelihood alternatives. By empowering communities to take an active role in conserving their natural heritage, VoNat contributes to a future where both people and natureย thrive together.
our vision
VoNat envisions a world where people value, respect, and actively protect nature, recognizing that healthy ecosystems are fundamental to the well-being of present and future generations.
OUR MISSION
Conserving amphibians, primates, and ecosystems while strengthening climate resilience in Cameroon.
OUR VALUES
We value science-driven action, people-centered collaboration, and integrity as we work to create lasting conservation impact.
The wellbeing of people and biodiversity in Cameroon is deeply connected to the health of its forests and freshwater ecosystems. Yet, these vital landscapes are increasingly threatened by deforestation, unsustainable land use, pollution, and climate change. At VoNat, we work to conserve biodiversity, especially amphibians and primates, while restoring forests, soil health, wetlands, and watersheds through community-led action. By strengthening ecosystem resilience and supporting sustainable livelihoods, we help vulnerable communities adapt to climate change and endangered species across Key Biodiversity Areas (KBAs) in Cameroon.
WHAT WE DO
Species conservation
Conserving threatened amphibians, primates, and other wildlife through targeted conservation actions and habitat protection.
Ecosystem Restoration
Restoring degraded forests, wetlands, watersheds, and soil systems while safeguarding their ecological functions and strengthening long-term ecosystem resilience.
Climate Action
Strengthening the ability of ecosystems and communities to adapt to climate change through nature-based solutions, restoration, and sustainable land-use practices.
.
WHERE WE WORK
Voice of Nature (VoNat) carries out species conservation, ecosystem restoration, and climate action initiatives across four regions of Cameroon: the South West, Littoral, West, and North West regions. Our conservation and restoration efforts are currently focused in four Key Biodiversity Areas (KBAs): Mount Cameroon, Mount Muanengouba, Mount Nlonako, and Mount Mbam. Through community-led approaches, we work to protect endangered species, restore degraded ecosystems, strengthen climate resilience, and support sustainable livelihoods for local communities.
