About VoNat
Voice of Nature (VoNat) is a Cameroon-based, community-led biodiversity conservation organization committed to building a greener, safer, and more sustainable world where people and wildlife thrive together. VoNat works closely with local communities, researchers, and conservation partners to conserve amphibians, primates, and other threatened species, while restoring forests, wetlands, soil health, and watersheds across Key Biodiversity Areas in Cameroon.
Position Summary
VoNat is seeking a passionate and motivated Species Conservation Programme Assistant (Volunteer) to support its field conservation initiatives. The role will contribute directly to species monitoring, habitat restoration, community engagement, and environmental education activities, with a strong focus on amphibians, primates, and other key species in Cameroon’s Key Biodiversity Areas. This opportunity is ideal for early-career conservationists seeking hands-on field experience in community-based conservation and applied field ecology.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in biodiversity and species monitoring surveys, with emphasis on amphibians, primates, and other threatened species
- Support field data collection, recording, and entry for conservation projects
- Participate in habitat restoration and ecosystem protection activities
- Assist in community outreach, sensitization, and environmental education sessions
- Support documentation of field activities, including notes, reports, and photo records
- Work closely with field and project coordinators during field missions
Required Profile
- A BSc Degree in Forestry, Wildlife, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field
- Strong interest in biodiversity conservation and field ecology
- Willingness to work in remote field conditions and challenging terrain
- Good communication skills in English and French
- Basic computer literacy (Word, Excel; knowledge of KoboToolbox or GIS is an advantage)
- Strong team spirit, adaptability, and eagerness to learn
