The Principal of Government High School (GHS) Bokova, Mr. Mbella, has given the go-ahead for Voice of Nature (VoNat) to carry out environmental education activities with the students of his school. This clearance was given to a delegation from VoNat, who visited the school, Thursday May 6, 2021, to seek authorization and engage the young boys and girls of this academic institution in finding solutions to the increasing biodiversity conservation and sustainable development challenges.
“Nature conservation is very good! Your organization is welcome to GHS Bokova. The students are there and there is available space for your activities,” the school administrator said, while promising to designate a focal person, who will in collaboration with VoNat to ensure that the organization operates unperturbed.
Bokova is one of the adjacent communities to the Mount Cameroon National Park, an IUCN Category II protected area, host to a significant number of globally threatened species and large mammals including the Africa forest elephant (Loxodontacyclotis), Cameroon Nigeriachimpanzee (Pan troglodytes),parrot (Pternistis camerunensis) and francolin (Francolinus camerunensis).
The commencement of environmental education activities in GHS Bokova, is in consonance with the VoNat’s strive to engage community kids and youths in creating a sustainable and healthy planet that they will enjoy as adults, and also hand to the next generation.
