Ndimuh Bertrand Shancho will be engaged in saving the world’s largest Frog (Conraua goliath) in the Mount Nlonako Area from extinction with Community Kids as a National Geographic Explorer. In the month of September 2022, Ndimuh B. Shancho, the Executive Director of Voice of Nature (VoNat), was awarded a grant from the National Geographic Society to educate and engage 100 kids and young adults in amphibians ecological study and a community-wide sensitization outreach in the Mount Nlonako Area as a National Geographic Explorer.
The project dubbed: “Saving World’s Largest Frog in Mount Nlonako Area from Extinction with Community Kids” aims to boost the understanding of 100 children in amphibians ecology and conservation challenges, and engage them in sharing this knowledge with older community folks, and school kids in the UK and other parts of the world via video calls. It is hoped that through this, the youngsters will become excited about the goliath frog and other amphibians species in their communities. They will also educate their parent to conserve these species and will grow up to love, cherish and protect amphibians and their habitat, after feeling empowered and gaining an understanding of the conservation importance of the species.
