Voice of Nature (VoNat) is accompanying Make it Greener NGO in the implementation of the second edition of its Youth Engagement in Environmental Protection (YEEP2) programme in the North West and South West regions of Cameroon. The YEEP2 Programme aims to get more young people within the age of 12 and 35 engaged and empowered in environmental protection and initiatives that challenge climate change. The programme runs from December 2024 to April 2025.
Barely 1 month into the implementation of this programme, scores of young volunteers have been capacitated with project implementation, time management and team building skills amongst others, to enhance their effectiveness in service throughout the programme. With the collaboration of other partners like The Numfor Solange Foundation and Ocean Bridges over 80 students and other young people have also engaged in beach clean up for the conservation of endangered species along the Limbe Coastline. Meanwhile, close to 100 students in Limbe have gained environmental consciousness following different environmental education sessions.
In the months ahead, VoNat will be accompanying Make it Greener in tree planting actions, clean up campaigns and the creation of more environmental clubs in the South West Region of Cameroon. Plans are also underway to extend the Youth Engagement in Environmental Protection (YEEP2) programme to the North West Region of Cameroon, with activities similar to those being carried out in the South West Region, already ear-marked
