My name is Teboh George, graduate from the University of Buea with a Bachelor of Science (BSc.) in Agriculture. After my undergraduate studies, I started searching for an NGO in Buea in the area of Agriculture and Sustainable Development. This was when I came across Voice of Nature (VoNat), and its mission and vision immediately caught my attention. I immediately applied and was recruited in the Agriculture and Community Development Programme of the Organization for a 6-month volunteering programme in November 2021. My desire at this time was to acquire practical training in project writing and implementation, as well as broaden my professional network.

While at VoNat, I participated in the planning, implementation, and reporting of different project activities, most especially the  Keep the Apes Alive project dedicated to conserving endangered ape of the Mount Cameroon National Area with community kids and youths.  Attending meetings with key environmental leaders, and taking kids for experiential learning sessions to the Mount Cameroon National Park and forest adjacent communities are my most memorable moments.

I was also thrilled by how much knowledge and skills I was able to gain in grant writing and resource mobilization, report writing, project planning, and implementation, professional communication, and photography through the different training sessions VoNat organized. My 6 months stay at VoNat was particularly made interesting by the flexible, collaborative, and participative style of the Executive Director and other team members.  VoNat is just the right place for anyone, who seeks to improve his/her professional experience through volunteering.
