The Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Foundation (LUKMEF) and the Canadian Fund for Local Development in Cameroon’s donation in February 2022 has contributed in strengthening the operational and institutional capacity of Voice of Nature (VoNat) for greater efficiency in the realization of its goal of building a greener, safer and more sustainable planet.

Staff and volunteers of VoNat receive training on grants writing

This donation has aided in the procurement of a laptop and a desktop computer, a hard drive, and a printer. It has equally ensured the production of visibility tools like roll up, stickers and brochures, the review and validation of VoNat’s Administrative and Financial Procedure Manual and the training and orientation of the staff and volunteers of the Organization on Grant Writing and Resource Mobilization, and audit preparation basics and guidelines

All these are already enhancing the operational efficiency and visibility of the organization. “Working in the office was very challenging as the only available desktop was not very functional and the printer could not print clearly. Some of us had to use our phones to produce reports which was slow and stressful. The coming of this laptop and desktop has facilitated my day-to-day task of typing and documenting administrative documents. I am also able to back up electronic files with the use of the desktop and the hard drive, and do printing without necessary going out to a documentation,” said Madam Tayu Nancy Shei,  Information Management Officer and Executive Assistant at VoNat.

Mbemngong Faith attested that her understanding of the administrative and financial procedures of the organization was enhanced. “I now have a better understanding of some of the basic financial and operational procedures of the organization thanks to the training. We also have a manual that one can always refer to and be sure that one is doing the right thing,” she added.

Donated laptop and hard drive facilitate work

According to Mr. Teboh George, the training on Grant Writing and Resource Mobilization enlighten his understanding of what to consider when writing a grant.  “I did not understand what exactly to include or not to include when writing a grant proposal for funding. Thanks to the training on Grant Writing and Resource Mobilization, I was empowered,” he said.

VoNat continues to seek ways to strengthen its capacity and that of its staff and volunteers for greater efficiency in the realization of its biodiversity conservation and sustainable development goals.
