Voice of Nature (VoNat)’s former intern Alistair Morrell has graduated with Distinction from the University of Edinburgh, earning a Master of Science in Biodiversity, Wildlife and Ecosystem Health.  Morrell completed a one-month internship with VoNat in February 2025 , working with the organization’s field team in the Mount Mbam landscape in Cameroon’s West Region. His work focused on mapping ecological threats and helping communities identify and co-develop locally appropriate conservation solutions.

The internship formed part of VoNat’s expanding efforts to support community-led restoration and environmental stewardship. It was facilitated and supported by the Global Diversity Foundation (GDF) and C02 Balance.  “My internship at VoNat was an eye-opening experience and something I will never forget. I met incredible people who were trying to improve local livelihoods while protecting the environment, and I am hopeful to continue supporting the project in the future,” Alistair said, shortly after his internship.

According to VoNat, Morrell demonstrated strong professionalism and curiosity in the field, contributing to participatory research and ecological monitoring activities. VoNat continues to host interns and young professionals from around the world through its Volunteering and Youth Mentorship Program, which aims to build capacity in conservation while supporting communities living near fragile ecosystems.
