Cameroon-based biodiversity conservation and sustainable development non-profit organization Voice of Nature (VoNat) has officially moved its Head Office from Press Hostel Junction, Malingo Street, Molyko-Buea to a new and more spacious location at Sun City (Old Timers), Upper Bokova in Buea, at the foot of Mount Cameroon, South West Region of Cameroon. The relocation, which took effect recently, is part of the organization’s ongoing efforts to provide a secure, serene, and productive working environment for its growing team of staff, volunteers, and mentees.

To commemorate this important milestone, VoNat held a celebration at the new premises on February 19, 2026. The event was a moment of reflection, appreciation, and renewed commitment to the organization’s conservation mission. Speaking during the occasion, the Executive Director, Ndimuh Bertrand Shancho, explained that the relocation became necessary due to the organization’s rapid growth and increasing demand for its programs.

He noted that the previous office space had become too small to accommodate the rising number of young people participating in volunteering, mentorship, and training activities. He further highlighted that access to adequate space for community empowerment initiatives had been challenging, especially in the absence of sufficient funding, making the move to a larger and quieter environment essential for staff welfare and productivity.

The new office represents a significant step in VoNat’s institutional development and expanding role in environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, and community-driven climate action. The facility offers increased workspace for a growing team, dedicated areas for project coordination and research, improved storage for field equipment and educational materials, and suitable meeting and training spaces for stakeholder engagement. These improvements are expected to enhance operational efficiency and strengthen the organization’s capacity to deliver conservation programs at both local and national levels.

During the celebration, new and old team members were taken on a guided tour of the new facility, where they explored its different operational units. The tour included the Office of the Executive Director, which serves as the central hub for strategic leadership, partnership coordination, and organizational decision-making. Participants also visited the Administration and Finance Unit, responsible for organizational management, financial oversight, and accountability processes. The Programs and Projects Unit, which oversees conservation initiatives such as ecosystem restoration, climate action, biodiversity conservation, and research and monitoring were also showcased. In addition, all present visited the training and resource area designed for workshops and stakeholder engagements, as well as organized storage spaces for field equipment and conservation education materials. Many participants expressed excitement about the improved facilities and the opportunities they create for stronger teamwork and effective program delivery.

Beyond the formal activities, the event served as a reunion moment for individuals who have contributed to VoNat’s journey over the years. Staff and volunteers shared memories and reflections on the organization’s evolution from modest beginnings into a recognized conservation actor. The celebration concluded with informal networking, reinforcing the strong sense of community that defines VoNat’s work.

Established in 2019 and formally registered with the Ministry of Territorial Administration, VoNat is a community-based nonprofit organization working at the intersection of species protection, ecosystem restoration, climate resilience, and community empowerment.  VoNat is also an official partner of the Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife, supporting national efforts for biodiversity conservation.

As the organization settles into its new home in Upper Bokova, the relocation stands as a powerful symbol of progress, resilience, and a renewed commitment to advancing conservation solutions for people and nature.
