Children and youths participating in the 2025 EcoKids Programme of Voice of Nature (VoNat) and Meg Wah have taken a leading role in a community-wide climate change sensitization campaign in Bangourain, within the Mount Mbam Area, West Region of Cameroon. The initiative formed part of an ongoing effort to empower young people as climate ambassadors, equipping them with the knowledge and confidence to speak about environmental protection in their own communities, funded by Earth Rising Foundation.

Using the 2026 EcoKids Annual Calendar, which features climate messages co-created during their education sessions, the youngsters moved from household to household, engaging residents in conversations about climate threats and practical solutions.
During the outreach, the children shared messages that highlighted the need to plant trees, protect water sources, reduce slash-and-burn farming, and preserve vegetation cover as a way of ensuring cleaner air and healthier environments. They emphasized how rejecting deforestation and embracing regeneration can help safeguard soils, biodiversity, and local livelihoods. Community members listened as the young ambassadors explained how climate change is already affecting farming, water availability, and daily life across the Mount Mbam landscape, while also demonstrating simple steps that every household can take to build resilience.

According to VoNat, involving children in direct community outreach deepens their sense of responsibility and strengthens intergenerational dialogue on environmental stewardship. The EcoKids Programme blends climate literacy, environmental education, practical field activities, and creative communication tools, making learning both engaging and action-oriented.
This climate sensitization effort was implemented with support from the Earth Rising Foundation, whose partnership has helped expand youth-led environmental awareness across four regions in Cameroon. As climate challenges continue to intensify, VoNat reaffirms its commitment to nurturing informed, motivated, and capable young leaders who will champion conservation and climate action in their communities and beyond.
