About Us

OUR JOURNEY STARTED IN 2019

Voice of Nature (VoNat) is a Cameroon-based, community-driven non-profit organization founded in 2019 and officially registered on 30 September 2020 under Registration No. 1125/G.37/C84/VOL.I/SASC by the Ministry of Territorial Administration. Based in Buea, VoNat is also an official partner of the Cameroon Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife (MINFOF) and works closely with local communities and government institutions to deliver practical, locally led conservation solutions. VoNat is dedicated to conserving amphibians, primates, and other threatened species while restoring ecosystems and building climate resilience across Cameroon. Our work focuses on the conservation of biodiversity and the restoration of forests, wetlands, soil health, and watersheds across Key Biodiversity Areas in the country. We use a combination of scientific research, environmental education, storytelling, community outreach, and hands-on conservation action to promote ecosystem restoration and climate resilience. At the same time, we support sustainable livelihood alternatives that reduce pressure on natural resources and improve community well-being. VoNat was created by young conservationists with a strong commitment to addressing biodiversity loss and environmental challenges in their communities.VoNat was created by young conservationists with a strong commitment to addressing biodiversity loss and environmental challenges in their communities. From the beginning, our vision has been to engage children, youth, and their wider communities in conservation action, building an intergenerational movement that actively protects nature for a more sustainable future. By empowering communities to take an active role in conserving their natural heritage, VoNat contributes to a future where both people and nature thrive together.

Since 2019, we have been finding solutions to increasing global environmental challenges with community youth and their communities in Cameroon via capacity building, livelihoods support, biomonitoring, research, outreach and community engagement.

Vision

VoNat envisions a world where people value, respect, and actively protect nature, recognizing that healthy ecosystems are fundamental to the well-being of present and future generations.

What We Do

We carry out targeted conservation actions and habitat restoration to deter biodiversity depletion and conserve threatened amphibians, primates, and other wildlife

We generate scientific and traditional knowledge that informs effective conservation action, ecosystem restoration, and climate resilience.

We restore degraded forests, wetlands, watersheds, and soil systems while safeguarding their ecological functions and strengthening long-term ecosystem resilience.

We strengthen the ability of ecosystems and communities to adapt to climate change through nature-based solutions, restoration, and sustainable land-use practices

We equip young graduates and environmental advocates with practical skills, field experience, and professional opportunities in biodiversity conservation and ecosystem restoration.
