About Us

Voice of Nature (VoNat) is a Cameroon-based biodiversity conservation and sustainable development non-profit organization created in 2019 with Head Quarter in Buea, South West Region of Cameroon. On September 30, 2020, VoNat was authorised by the Cameroon Ministry of Territorial Administration following registration No.1125/G.37/C84/VOL.I/SASC to operate as an apolitical, non-denominational and non-profit organization. The organization’s mission is dedicated to building a greener, safer and more sustainable planet for wildlife and humanity to thrive.  VoNat is committed to promoting diversity, collaboration, equity, inclusion and justice in its species conservation, climate action and landscapes restoration efforts.

Purpose of the Volunteering Positions

We are currently seeking a skilled GIS Volunteer to support our species conservation and landscape restoration efforts. As a GIS Volunteer, you will play a key role in analyzing and visualizing spatial data to inform our conservation and restoration strategies.

Required Competences

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, or related field
  • Bilingual (ability to speak and write both English and French)
  • Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and spatial analysis techniques
  • Experience with spatial data visualization and communication
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Good team spirit and communication skills
  • Ability to work and interact with people of different backgrounds
  • Willingness to adhere to VoNat’s core values

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and process spatial data using GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS)
  • Create maps, visualizations, and reports to communicate conservation data insights
  • Collaborate with our team to integrate GIS analysis into conservation planning and decision-making
  • Develop and maintain GIS databases and spatial data infrastructure
  • Assist in field survey and other research-related activities
  • Produce plans, presentations and reports on biodiversity conservation and climate response activities
  • Develop ideas and support fundraising efforts
  • Assist in reforestation activities etc.
